October 31, 2006

Happy Halloween everybody :)

Well, today's meeting started at 12:43

We collected the candy for the Homecoming parade (and I forgot MY candy...so i guess I'll just bring them tomorrow? -sorry guyz and GALZ!!!).

Today's meeting basically revolved around the Homecoming Parade...you know, getting ready for it, making sure people are going to actually GO TO THE PARADE, decorating banners, and all that other good stuff. Well, Jonathan said that he was thinking of having a Mini Convention after Fall state...

SPEAKING OF FALL STATE

During the meeting, Jonathan announced who is going to that convention. I'm not sure whether these names are subjected to change or not but hopefully everything works out right and we dont have to switch people around :)

-Jonathan
-Brennan
-Jack
-Andrey
-Daniel (taking Phoenix's place)

MEETING ENDED AT: 1:02 PM

so yeah...I'll see all you guys at the Night game/Homecoming parade!!!

Event : 2006 Angeles Region Fall One Day Conference "Decision 2006"

The Angeles Region of the Junior State of America presents

Saturday, October 28

University of Southern California

http://www.usc.edu/about/visit/upc/driving_directions/

The 2006 midterm elections will be among the most heated and divisive in recent memory. The results from these elections will have a tremendous impact on the course that the nation takes in the coming years. Controversial issues ranging from national security and the war in Iraq to the strength of the economy and rising gas prices are at the forefront of the voters' minds. Candidates must also offer solutions for skyrocketing health care costs, the nation's crumbling infrastructure, and a disappointingly ineffective public education system. High school students can go beyond the sound bites and have their say on these complex public policy issues in Decision 2006, presented by the Junior State of America.

Conference registration is free for all high school students and teachers. All participants may register at the door; pre-registration is not required.

For more information, please contact James Lee, Southern California Program Director, at jlee@jsa.org or Yvonne Chu, Angeles Region Mayor, at yvonne.c.chu@gmail.com.

Turkeygrams

Junior State of America

Hey everyone!

this is Vicky and i know im not an officeholder, but i just wanted to clarify the whole idea of the turkey grams. just like the santa grams that leadership does, turkey grams would include a stuffed animal (in the shape of a turkey like duh) and a card (maybe a turkey shaped one, seeing as how it IS thanskgiving) and sum candy. i just thought that this would be an easy fundraiser which would yield a lot of profits and hardly cost us anything as downtown is like MEGA cheap

thats about it

GO JSA!!!

lol

Junior State of America

Junior State of America

Hello JSA-ers,this is Jonathan Kim posting. I have attended the JSA Leadership Conference this Saturday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Phoenix was there as well; however, left at a bit early. It was very exciting and I have learned so much about JSA. This Tuesday, I want to speak about the Fall Convention that will be taking place in this November. It seems "America at the Crossroads" was last years event, and I received very old news.
Thirty two schools all over SoCal came and 137 students were at the Concert Hall at SMC. Apparently, Hollywood High is part of the "AR" region. I believe AR stands for Angeles Region. The SoCal governor was present, and he gave a speech. I went to a meeting where all the presidents from different high schools gathered and socialized, watched "Sometimes in April", went to a chapter leadership workshop, and attended a town hall debate where the topic was about gun rights. Politics is very exciting, and more people participating in debates makes the experience fun. Anyway, that is the brief summary of what happened this Saturday at the 2006 JSA Leadership Conference.
