12/18 Meeting

Because our attempts at an online meeting have failed miserably, we're going to try and meet tomorrow on 12/18, even though clubs are supposed to have ended, so after school, we'll go to the room. If we can't have the meeting there,I'll post the new place on both here and the forums (which you should all sign up for, by the way; http://www.forum.jykinturah.net/index.php for those who don't know).

Public Debaaaate!

Public debate was technically both a failure and a success; we got one person there, however, she is now willing to join the club after joining in the Thought Talk that we had, and because the snacks were given as a donation and some members who were unable to attend paid, we made a couple of dollars in profit. So, I'm looking at this as a success (one more member is still more in the way of membership than before), and we'll try and do this better next semester.

O.O o.O >.< -.- =.= @.@

The south park discussion will be taking place on January 5, 2008 at Phillip Han's home.

Van Nuys has been alerted, and they kindly reminded us that the Congress registration deadline is on January 8, 2008.

There is an AIM chat THIS FRIDAY at 5:00 to 5:30 P.M. Please log in. Creating a screen name is very easy, and AIM can also be run from the AIM website without downloading.

From now on JSA will be posting on my forum. You can only access the club forums by registering. Make sure you enter your real name into your Profile Information. Your Profile Information can be modified at the User Control Panel in the upper left hand corner of the forum. Your username can be anything you please.

Register at forum.jykinturah.net as there is now a club forum for use in JSA.

Meeting

We weren't able to have a meeting this Tuesday as, between Senior Projects and a field trip, there wasn't really anyone there to have a meeting with. However, we're dealing with a lot of things right now, so we can't afford to skip a meeting. As such, we'll either be meeting at another time this week (which I don't suggest, as people have other clubs that they need to go to on those days) or we do an online meeting using an AIM Chatroom. It's not impossible, we have done it many a time before, just not this year. Please voice your decision in the comments on this post; if no one comments, then we'll have an online meeting. Instant message me over AIM sometime between 5:00 and 5:30 Friday evening, and I'll set everyone in the chatroom. If we're good about it, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to deal with everything. For those of you that don't have it, my AIM handle is WolfaitorMega.

Food Sale: The Aftermath

Well, the Food Sale was last Friday, and, although there were a lot of fires to deal with, we made it through. Those who bought the donuts, cups, and napkins have been reimbursed; all that remains is to pay Leadership their cut of the profits after reimbursing Rio, who bought the hot chocolate mix. Due to a mix-up, I currently hold all but $10 of the money (that is held by Alexandria), and right now I hold $36.04, so we probably made something about $40 or so. It's a decent amount, but I feel that if we had gotten more donuts, we would have made more money- this sale only got us about as much as our last recycling run, and took a lot more effort. So, we'll try and get the money all squared away this meeting, where we'll reimburse Rio, and hand the rest of the money to Alexandria, to deposit in the account along with the $38 from the last recycling run (that we decided to hold off on depositing so as to use for reimbursement, but was actually unneeded). So, come to JSA this Tuesday, and don't forget, because we have that Thought Talk on stem cell research.

Food Sale: The Reckoning

The Food Sale is tomorrow, people! Some last-minute details for you all:
  • Ms. Brown will be purchasing 4-5 dozen donuts
  • Rio will be purchasing the hot chocolate
  • Felicia will be providing the creamer for those customers who wish (per our vote), as well as the hot water heater
  • My family will be providing cups and napkins for the hot chocolate and donuts
  • The Weather Channel says that the high tomorrow will be 62 degrees Fahrenheit, with some winds and a 30% chance of showers, so the hot chocolate should sell fairly well
  • Ms. Brown will send out passes at the beginning of 4th period for all students who will be participating in the Food Sale. This will definitely include Elise, myself, and Phillip. I wish to also pull out Rio, Alexandria, and/or Felicia (hopefully for no more than a total of five people). Anyone who is working with another club can part-time if they wish. The passes will excuse you 10-15 minutes early from your 4th period so that you can help set up before lunch.
  • I don't know where our table is placed; Ms. Quintanilla, the teacher who deals with Leadership, left early today, and Leadership had not contacted me previously (and for some reason, they couldn't show me a map or anything). As we have an electric hot water heater, I'll be bringing an extension cord, just in case.
  • Alexandria is holding the $38 we made from the last recycling run. We'll be using this and our immediate revenue to reimburse those who bought supplies on-the-spot. Hopefully, we can make a decent amount of money with this (Leadership does take a cut of the profits).
Things are looking to be pretty good insofar; everyone has a job, donuts always sell, and the weather is on our side for hot chocolate. Let's all put our best effort in, and make some MONAY!!!!

Price

Sorry guys, this detail has been overlooked (mostly because I didn't bring it up too much), but we didn't decide on the price for the coffee and donuts at the Food Sale (yes, we are doing coffee and donuts; both votes of those present and those online totaled to 5 for and 3 against with no abstentions). I was thinking $1 for coffee either way, but I'm not sure about the donuts- I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $1-$2 for those. As well, we need to determine how this is going to happen, such as if we will seek support from Starbucks or Coffee Bean, who will do so if we decide to, if not, who will get the coffee grounds and the water heater, where we will buy the donuts from, who will buy them, etc. Remember, the deadline is THIS FRIDAY, the 16th of November, so I need your opinions and I need them fast. Please view and comment ASAP, and make sure others do as well.

-Brennan

UPDATE: No one commented, and I waited until the very last possible minute (4:30 on the afternoon of the 16th), so I went ahead and decided myself; donuts and coffee a dollar each, two dollars for both. We'll deal with the logistics (such as supplies) at the meeting this Tuesday.

Fall State: We Return!

So, Fall State ended yesterday, and we all got back safe and tired. Everyone had a great time, and some of us even participated in debates (both official and unofficial). Elise and myself were actually part of a Tag-Team debate on whether or not women are equal to men in today's society (and on separate sides, too), as well as participating in the Impromptu Speech Contest (I spoke on how we should all move to Mars and Elise spoke on how "Luke Skywalker could totally kick Optimus Prime's butt") and the Twister competition. We attended debates such as Stephen Colbert is funnier than Jon Stewart, Meat is immoral, and whether or not Civil Disobedience is un-American. Everyone had a great time (and a lot of Starbucks) and I hope everyone who didn't go this year will come to Spring Congress or Spring State later this year. I will see you all tomorrow, where we'll talk about the upcoming Food Sale and any quick questions about Fall State or any of the other upcoming conventions that you still have. Please see the previous post AND COMMENT on it, so that we can get the meeting this Tuesday moving more quickly.

Food Sale

Ok, I wanted to bring this up in today's meeting, but couldn't because we had to go over stuff concerning Fall State (mostly because no one read the last weblog post...), so I'll have to go over it here. On November 30, the school is having a Food Sale. We have a form to submit if we wish to participate (and we do and should), and that's due by November 16. Seeing how that's basically in a week, we're going to have to use the weblog and email to communicate on this until the next meeting, where we'll iron out the details. I was thinking of selling coffee and possibly donuts or some sort of pastry, because it will be at lunch, coffee is usually popular and people may want it for a mid-day pick-me-up, most other people won't have it, and donuts ALWAYS sell. If we can, I'd like to see if we can get Coffee Bean or Starbucks to sponsor us so we don't have to pay for the coffee; if we can't, we'll get a water heater of some sort and a bunch of coffee grounds from Costco or Smart&Final or something, and we'll have some pre-brewed and some brewed on site. The donuts will probably just be glazed, and we'll probably do it wherever it's cheapest. Please comment or email ASAP.

Fall State Information

Men are to wear suits or slacks and a nice shirt. Women are to wear business clothes or some other sort of formal dress, such as slacks and a blouse. We will be meeting at 7:30 at the Orange gate; if we cannot use that as a meeting place, we will be meeting across the street at the In-N-Out parking lot. Bring everything you will need for an overnight stay, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, pajamas, and shampoo, soap, and conditioner (if you need some sort of special kind; this will be provided by the hotel). We will be keeping our luggage in the car in case there is a need to get back to it, as checking it in will render it inaccessible until later that night. You are not to leave the hotel without Ms. Brown’s permission, and generally should not leave for any reason. Bring some money for food and souvenirs if you wish (at least $20 is suggested, and should get you through the weekend sufficiently). Keep your nametags on you at all times, and do not lose them; they are your proof that you are with JSA, and thereby also your access, and are very troublesome to replace. Do not push the rules, as the organization is not very lenient with them; if you leave your room after curfew, for example, you will put the ENTIRE CHAPTER into major trouble, and may possible destroy our chances of attending any other events. That’s about it. I’ll bring a few copies of the pamphlet that contains the list of debates and Thought Talks at the conference, as well some information concerning other parts of the convention. Also, please leave a comment so that we know you have read this; there will also be a word that will be asked at the beginning of the meeting that will confirm you have read the blog as well.

Revised message: Fall State and Halloween

Dear JSA Members!

The Recycling program is going well, and Brennan plans to convert to school wide.

Fall State is coming up, so on November 6, 2007 we will discuss what you should bring.

We have agreed to have a comedic debate. The audience will choose the topic.

If you read this, comment your name so we know you did.

Please shorten your blog entries because people can not possibly want to read the AP English essays you write on here...

Fall State, Halloween and much more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey yall,

The recycling fund raiser is going pretty well so keep up the good work! Remember, you are also helping to make the world a better, brighter place. I have noticed that only one person has let us know they have been reading the blogs. Please let us know by posting a comment. All you have to do is put your name and the word read to let us know you read it. This is one of the simpler things in this grand thing we humanoids call life. This Tuesday we will be beginning our meeting by going around the room and saying what we are going to be (our costumes) and our favorite candy/what candy we hope to get to add a little oomph to the meeting. If your costume is a surprise you don't have to say, but we might try to get it out of you. LOL. No, I am serious (not really, but whatever). The meeting Tuesday before Fall State (yay) will be reserved for going over proper attire, behavior and what needs to be packed (I believe this meeting is November 6th.) Remember, we are representing Hollywood High. If you still would like to attend it is not too late. You will have to pay ten dollars extra. trip-slips can be found at jsa.org ! Fall State is November 10th and 11th! I hope that many of you were able to attend the one-day conference/convention at USC today (even though UCLA is better!) My apologies for not attending, I had my college final at LACC and am sick. My brother also had his 2 college finals. If anyone who is going can take pictures at fall state and at the events such as the dance and the quiz that would be greatly appreciated. I am in no way going to be at the dance like I had to last year to take pictures. Warning: the dance is very dark and loud with tons of brightly flashing lights and something that I would not call dancing goes on in there. I guess if you are into that sort of thing you would be a great candidate for our fall state photographer! Enjoy your weekends! Only 10 days to Halloween (and my mom's birthday, which you really don't need to know unless... lets just say gift and money donations are always welcome to help me pay. LOL.) Yay, ok, Halloween around the corner. HAPPY HAPPY! See you all Tuesday.Don't forget what you are going as for Halloween and your favorite candy! Stay awesome!

Happy early Halloween, (yay!)
Elise V.P.

Upfate

So, we had the garage sale today. Only Jonathan and Jasmin showed up (Alexandria made it at the time we agreed upon, but we'll get to that later). In total, we made $5 off of the garage sale, which is a major hit as it's usually our big fundraiser. Few people showed up or donated anything. We ended up closing sometime around 11 AM simply due to the fact that nothing was selling. I thank Jonathan and Jasmin very much, as well as Alexandria (although I do apologize to her, as she came when she said she would). This means that anyone going to Fall State is going to have to pay far more than we had originally hoped, full price out of pocket, as we have very little left over in the account from last year, and we have no time to get to that money in the account. I understand if people no longer want or can afford to go. Please contact Elise accordingly. We also need your registration forms and money by tomorrow. I know it is short notice, but it really isn't, as we have been saying, over and over and over again; the deadline is October 9 for registration, and we need to know whether or not you are going and all papers before then, probably right after the yard sale. The yard sale is over. October 9 is tomorrow. We need them now if you want to go. Try and find me or Elise once you have your money and registration slip (the one signed by both you and your parent). Elise will probably be in the library during nutrition and I will be at the tables next to the library during lunch. I also hope that you prepared for the debate tomorrow concerning the Florida University tasering. That's all for now.

My Hands Are Most Definitely On My Waist

Come on, guys; we have something like twenty people in the club, six of whom are officers, and, from the information I have been able to gather, we couldn't get ONE PERSON to attend the convention at UCLA this weekend. I know it isn't as big as Fall State, but a lot of the people who were there will be at Fall State- including moderators and general administrators. It was the first event of the school year, and we missed it. What really gets to me is not the fact that we didn't have people go, so much as the fact that there were people who said that they would. This greatly disappoints me. Please try to keep your commitments in the future. A promise is a promise, no matter how big or small. Don't put yourself out there for others to count on in the future if there's a significant chance that you can't do it in the end or when it matters.

Other than that, we have the garage sale this weekend, right before the deadline for Fall State registration. We have been asking people to inform us whether or not they are going to Fall State, WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN GO, just so we know, and we still have not had even 25% of the club inform us. Please do so soon- if you miss the deadline, there is nothing I can do. It is far above my head. You've had a couple weeks to decide, and we need to know. Other than that, start telling people, start advertising, and start getting the stuff you want to sell together so that it can be sold.

Meeting tomorrow, October 2, in Ms. Tobenkin's room as always.

JSA Bootoff Conference, 07-08

As I mentioned in the previous meeting, there's going to be a sort of miniature convention at UCLA this Saturday, the 29, at the Neuroscience Building. It's the first large JSA event of the year, and is going to have all of the same stuff as Fall State (debates, thought talks, games, and more), so it's a good place to go to get a feel for the kind of things JSA does. It's completely free, and goes from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon, with registration starting at 9. Sadly, my sister and I cannot attend due to a long-standing commitment (though I wish I could). However, other officers should be, and you should regardless. I highly recommend it. See you all next meeting!

Obligatory Humor:

"However, there are certain liberal agitators out there that would like you to believe that my administration isn't doing such a good job. Of course, these are people such as Howard Stern, Richard Clark, and the news."

Falling States and Debates

Wazzup peoples! We voted on what our topic for the comedic debate next week would be. Here it is: Resolved, Dustin should cut his hair. Remember to contact me, my brother or Phillip if you will or even if you will not be going.
November 10 – 11
Marriott Hotel Los Angeles Airport
Registration fees are $96 per student and cover overnight hotel accommodations, admission to all convention activities, educational materials, exciting seminars, and recreational activities including a dance. Transportation and meals are not included in the registration fee. All rules for school field trips apply at Junior State conventions. The deadline for our registration to be at JSA headquarters is October 9th so I really need to know who is going. We will try to fundraise as much as we can so we don’t have to each pay the full price. Donations will really help. Even contact me if you feel the money might be a problem but you really want to go. We can try to work it out and no one else needs to know. Even if you are not going please let us now. Thanx a so much. :) ;p

much love,
Elise Jackson VP

President's Telegram to Da Men

Hello, everyone; this is your President.

I know that we have gotten a late start, and Fall State has snuck up on us, the registration deadline being October 9, two days after our Annual Garage Sale. The Garage Sale has traditionally been profitable, allowing us to fund multiple people to go to a convention, but there is very little time between the Garage Sale and the deadline, as noted. As such, please contact myself or Elise if you wish to go. I also wish to have some people debate at Fall State. Doing so is good practice for your speaking skills, a good way to broaden your horizons, and for both you and the club to gain notoriety among the future leaders of tomorrow. If you wish, I will have a list of the available topics for you to debate upon, with the topics ranging from whether Stephen Colbert is funnier than Jon Stewart to a new Iraqi government. I will try to have copies of the list, but there is no guarantee I will have them. Please contact Elise or myself if you wish to participate or simply have questions.
We currently have instituted a number of fundraisers, such as an ongoing recycling program, in which we wish for each member to try and bring one to two bottles or cans of some sort everyday of the week (which translates to seven to fourteen a meeting). This may seem like very little at five or ten cents per bottle/can, but if we can keep this up for an entire year, we could very easily raise enough money to fully fund multiple people to multiple conventions. We are also planning to send out letters to various local council members, such as Eric Garcetti, asking for monetary support for the "voters and politicians of tomorrow." This is to be brought up at the next meeting.
There are still cabinet positions available in JSA, and keep in mind that being part of the cabinet in a club with such nationwide recognition and respect such as JSA looks great on a college application, business interview, or just to brag about in general. I've found many of the positions to be somewhat redundant, and so I've consolidated them; there are currently only two definite positions open, those of Secretary of Debate and Secretary of Public Affairs. As I had said in the previous meeting, if you wish to hold a position in the cabinet, simply write some sort of message to me detailing what position you wish to hold, whether or not it currently exists, and why you feel you should hold it and would be the best person for the job. I will then use these to determine who will be a cabinet member. Keep in mind that these are usually appointed jobs, and you would normally have little to no say in whether or not you would receive them; this is a highly unorthodox tactic I am using. We do need these people soon, however, and if nothing is received before the next meeting, I may be forced to simply choose regardless. You will be expected to do your job, or you will receive no recommendation should you wish to seek it- no point in giving you credit if you don't do your job.

That's about all I have to say for now. I will try to keep everyone updated with more information as more information comes along. Despite the minimum day, lunch is not shortened, and we are still meeting in Ms. Tobenkin's room (rm. 316) at lunch on Tuesday, the 18 of September.

Until then,

Brennan Jackson (President)

Junior State of America update

First, I would like to say good luck to the seniors who are graduating today at the Hollywood Bowl. Second, elections for officers will take place when we come back on track. And third, we will find a new sponsor for J.S.A.

P.S. I would like to thank the Cat Khunnen (2006-07 Secretary), Andrey (Treasurer), Jack (2006 President), for their hard work in J.S.A.

Sincerely,

Overview of tomorrow's meeting

Tomorrow, the Enlightened Youth will come and join us. They will be observing us and perhaps contributing to our regular debates. We will also come up with an opinion poll asking whether students at Hollywood High are content with their educational learning. This sort of local (school) issue will further advance JSA's ability to analyze issues that students feel are important to address. Our debate topic for tomorrow is: Resolved, that hate speech is free speech.

On another note about the voluntary donations of the In-N-Out, we agreed that:
1) tickets will sold afterschool
2) this is a voluntary contribution from students and teachers
3) a person may buy up to 10 tickets
4) JSA students will have 15 tickets each to sell by May 25.
5) Drawings will be held on May 25 through the PA announcements.
6) If JSA students cannot sell 15 tickets each, they have the option to purchase their given tickets and they do have a fair chance to win one of the three prizez IF their name is chosen out of the box.
7) Whoever sells the most tickets recieve a $5 gift certificate to In-N-Out.

Good luck, and I will see you tomorrow

So what's happening in JSA?

So what's happening in JSA?

On the national level, Spring State took place in April 20-22. The elections took place and we have a new governor of SoCal. Take a look at this site https://www.jsa.org/netforumjsf/eweb/Dynamicpage.aspx?webcode=JSATodayTemplate&key=792c27d8-05b9-4f09-8f1d-984e20283b3b. Or go to www. jsa.org and click on "New Governors Elected!" on the right hand side.

On the local HHS level, we are doing an In-n-out drawing! Everyone is given 15tickets (mandatory to sell) and each ticket cost one dollar. Our drawing will be held in May 25th. Three lucky winners will get a $10 gift certificate to In-N-Out. And as a bonus, whoever sells the most tickets gets a $5 gift certificate to - guess where- In-N-out. Please sell as much as you can. ALL Proceeds will go to the club so we can go to the next convention, Fall state, in September. Also to prepare for our Mini-Con that will hopefully come up before June 2007. That's all for now.

Best regards, Jonathan Kim

What taxes mean to you.

The 2006-2007 Official Membership Card has arrived! I will pass them out in our next meeting, April 17th.

Today's meeting updated

Today, JSA'ers decided to sell Hot Dogs and Pies (and other baked goods) for the International Food Day in April 18th (correct me if I'm wrong on the date). Phillip Han volunteered to buy the condiments and pies, and Brennan Jackson volunteered to buy the hot dogs and buns. They will be reimbursed after the sale. Jennifer Pacelli decided to take on the task of costume design as JSA will exude Yankee (American) pride.

The UCLA One day conference is this Saturday, from 9:00AM - 3:30PM. This might conflict schedule with the Community Service Club's (CSC) Hancock Park Convelesccent visit. The President of CSC and I will hopefully come to an understanding and agreement of these two very important events. I am saying this because most JSA'ers are also in CSC, and it is difficult choosing one over the another. Rest assured, this conflict will be dealt with ASAP.

LAX SPRING STATE (APR. 19-22). Anyone who has the money to go, please come up to me and I will give you the permission slip form and I will then secure a sponsor who will take us there. Our sponsor Ms. Galvin should be available but she has a SAS Orientation on Saturday, April 21. This will cause a conflict as well. The Track A counselor, Ms. Brown and I will come up with an efficacious agreement if students want to participate in this convention. Registration will have to take place quickly as well which I can complete.

CHECK THE WEBLOG FOR MORE UPDATES.

in regards to fundraising:URGENT!!

Hey ya'll, how r ya doing, Just your friendly debate coordinator typing, hehehe:), and well i finally, after much frustration figured out how ta log on to this thing and post this message, and on my own, mind u, haha:) Well anyways as we all know there is a very important event, two very IMPORTANT events coming up for us JSA lovers, haha, and basically we really need to get the ball rolling on fundraising enough money for these events. We are all members of JSA because we enjoy having the knowledge of democracy and being apart of the *brighter* future so please lend in a hand. I have already asked Ms. Hindinger about whether we can hold a small dance either during lunch or after school, specifically a 60's Sock Hop, which can also be translated as a 6o's THEMED dance, and must show up in sixties atire, i also have spoken to members of leadership which is what Ms. Hindinger told me to do. Please support this dance with a majority vote on the topic on our next meeting. Seriously folks this special event is on April 20th, and it is already march 23rd, we have little to no more time to come up with other ideas, or begin scheduling other methods of fundraising money, and since this dance is already almost in the process of falling through and could actually work out for us then it would be great if you could be Pro-sixties, haha:), So on tuesday we will IMMEDIATELY begin with this subject matter, and if it is allowed, (and i strongly urge you to especially if you are someone who wants to go to Spring state, and I know I want to go SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOO bad without having to make my mom pay so much for me to go:), so yeah for those of you who do want to go think of your parents as well, unless your rich, which I doubt, haha:),), then we will IMMEDIATELY begin arranging costs for the dance tickets whether it should be for all on track students, or just juniors and seniors, well you get the point, so please, please attend the meeting next Tuesday,:),
Luvs ya'll ,

Thanks again ,

Matters to discuss at next meeting (March 20)

1. Letter from the President
2. Do we want a social?
3. Do we want to quickly fundraise?
4. Do we want a suggestion box?
5. What our Constitution say about our club.
6. CABINET MEETING on how to fundraise

The next convention is coming up very soon.

We had a meeting this Tuesday to see how many of you were interested in going to Spring State this April. I believe if we all work together we can send around eight or nine students to Spring State. Everybody please sign up at www.jsa.org and take a look at www.socaljsa.org. There are a lot of great resources over there. The UCLA one day conference will also take place in April 7. Everybody should go! There is a list of events on that site. See you next Tuesday :)

Speakers at Congress

Hey. I have got news for those attending Congress. I wanted to let you guys know that there will be two very special speakers at Congress this February. It will be ex- Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich and EmmyAward winning actor Bradley Whitford who plays Josh Lyman in The West Wing. His wife is Jane Kaczmarek, she played Lois on Malcolm in the Middle. Gingrich is a Republican and Whitford is a Democrat. It will be fascinating to see what they have to say at Congress. Don't forget to bring your camera so you can take pictures hopefully with Newt Gingrich and Bradley Whitford!

Who's going to Congress 2007?

We did it you guys, we are going to Congress in Woodland Hills in February 10-11. We have fundraised, and our hard work paid off for at least for some of us. Thanks to my staff (Andrey, Cat, Brennan, Elise, Jennifer and Phoenix) we are sending seven students to Congress. It is an unprecedented number and money we have spent on going to a JSA convention. Hollywood JSA has twenty members, now let's keep it up and we will send every student to the next convention coming up in Spring!

Sincerely, President Jonathan Kim

Registration has been delayed. Yay!

Hey guys, especially those who are going to Congress, listen up! I just got an email from Patricia Wayne from JSA Headquarters, and well, this is what she wrote. Please read it.

Dear Chapter Presidents!
Although the deadline for Congress registration is on Tuesday, you still have that chance to register!Congress this year is unlike any other. Following last year's introduction of Political Parties, we are continuing the tradition with a new one: Special Interest Groups! The ACLU, Minute Men, Immigration Network, Sierra Club and Christian Coalition along with the Democrat, Republican, Libertarian and Progressive Parties will be spicing up your committees to make for a Congress you will never forget! Unless you have already registered, I need an rsvp of approximately how many delegates from your chapter will be attending so we can reserve enough rooms at the hotel. You can email me with your rsvp or you can call me on my cell phone (661) 433.7452. I need your first rough estimate by Monday, January 15th and as close you can come to a final count by Friday, January 19. Attached to this email is the registration packet as well as the "Preparing for Congress Packet." Your bills need to by submitted to Senators Mi Quan Brooks ( q7islandsmab@yahoo.com) or Chelsea Pattee (blackmagic973@yahoo.com) as soon as possible. Bills are entered into the legislation index on a first come first serve basis so the sooner you get them in, the greater the chance is of your bill being picked. This year's Congress will be breaking JSA history, you definitely do not want to miss out. If there is anything I can do to help you fundraise, publicize or whatever you need to get your chapter to Congress, please give me a call. I'm a chapter president just like you so I know where you're coming from! ^_^ For more information on congress visit the congress page on our website: http://socaljsa.org/index.php?p=CongressI hope to hear from all of you soon! P.S. Check out our goal chapter attendance numbers on the chapter affairs page at socaljsa.org-- Patricia WayneSouthern California JSACo-Chief of Staff 661-433-7452
